1: EV's
an EV is a point given by pokemon that raise stats.
lets say you wanna raise SP.A well go to the old chatue and kill one. thats 1 SP.A ev (to check go to the pokedex of the marriland forums and check) now 4 ev's is an extra stat point at a level up. lets say normally you'd get 3 sp.a on a level up, you'd get 4 instead if you kill 4 ghastlys.
now of corse to keep stats from going to 999 there was a cap put on 510 ev's topped, 255 into one stats now 255=64 extra stat points. now a drug like protien adds 10 ev's to a stats, however to keep ev training from being a cake walk it's capped at 100 ev's or 10 drugs, making ev training easier, of course it's extreamly boring to kill 155 ghastly so they added PKRS and macho brace. now if you'r pokemon has PKRS then ev are doubled making a ghaslty give 2 sp.a ev's, macho brace does the same thing.
now if you have both then 1 ghastly is a whole point. suddenly 255 ghastlys became 39 ghastlys.

2:IV's
an iv is a birth stat, the stat it has at any level without ev training. iv's range from 1-31 to get 31 in a stat is 1 in 31 it's possible to have all stats with 31 iv's but that's like impossible but very low chance. to calculate iv's use the i'v calc at [img]serebii.net[/url]

3: PKRS
this is a rare deseas that doubles EV's. comes to you'r pokes randomly MAKE sure to spread it.

4: non ev training methods that level up.
well if you want to get the poke from level 1 to 40 so it can actually get ev's without ev trainng between then is to rare candy it or use an EXP. share and NOT put it in battle.

5: effort ribbon
to get this it indicates to traders/you'rself the pokemon has used all 510 ev's. to get it talk to the woman in the seal shop in sunnyshore city. (say that 3 times fast =P) and if it has she'll award it with a ribbon.
